Once a cheater, always a cheater

This article reports that if someone has cheated once, they are more likely than the average person to cheat again.

Those who admitted to having sexual relations outside their relationship were three and a half times more likely to do so in their next relationship as well.

But this uplifting news doesn’t stop there.

Participants who had unfaithful partners in their last relationship were three times more likely to be cheated on again. And people who suspected their partners of cheating were 10 times as likely to be suspicious in their next relationships.

Cheating affects both people in a partnership in terms of trust, commitment and fidelity. I KNOW what it is like to be cheated on (and the results of this study hold true – I’ve been cheated on more than once), and it DEFINITELY affects the trust you have in future relationships.

I’ve known this for quite some time, so I try not to let my own issues get in the way of new relationships, but it’s a struggle.

How about you? Have you cheated or been cheated on? How does it affect future relationships?
